Hi all;
I have kept a few RF's over the years & I'm about to say something that I'm sure you have all heard before.
Just because something CAN be eaten does not mean that it SHOULD be eaten.
I have seen many edible plant lists & RF diet lists that had many things listed that should not be eaten & something's that definitely cannot be eaten.
1 list that said it was totally RF edible stated that "Cashew Fruit" was good & safe! DON'T DO IT! Look it up for your self. About 80% of that list were things a RF would never come in contact with. Not that its a bad thing. There are good & safe plants from all over the world that can be fed to any captive tortoise.
Back to CAN & SHOULD.
Can RF's eat tomato's? Yes, The sugar is not a problem but the acid is. They are not the best choice. Fed sparingly they will do no harm. Would I feed them? NO, But that's just me. I would not feed citrus ether. Why? I don't feel that they the best foods for my tortoises health. Tomatoes & citrus are both too acidic & tend to cause runny stools
(from what I have seen).
These are my opinions based on what I have seen / done & read.
I know I tend to run off at the keyboard!
