Female RT in Renton, WA up for adoption.
« on: October 02, 2009, 07:03:21 PM »
Hello. We rescued this female (they thought she was a boy) a few weeks ago, and we think it's best if she finds a new home. We had our boy, Sheldon, first and these two do not get along. No matter how big the enclosure is, sight breaks, or yelling at him, Sheldon continues to chase then bite her. And since we don't want babies, we need to keep them seperate. I would rather have another boy who could share the enclosure. So if anyone is interested in a good, big girl, let me know. I would be willing to trade a boy for her, but if not, a great home for her would be perfect. Thanks.

I have a male and a female in a large backyard enclosure (we live in a warm San Francisco bay area city). I have been hoping to adopt another tort, but I know it would have to be a female to keep the ratio correct.  We're not trying to breed them, although should it occur we're prepared.

I don't know how to approach something like that from a distance, but if your other offer falls through, we would be very delighted to adopt her.  This is where they live: http://picasaweb.google.com/heleneroylance/RussianTortoises#

Helena,

I know I'm a little off topic, but your tort enclosure is gorgeous.     :-*

And she is doing AWESOME :)  She is such a big girl - it still amazes me.  And she has a great personality - if a little psycho.  She has such long legs and can really run (for a tortoise).  She will litterally sprint to me when I go to feed her.  When I put my hand in with food, she does not even notice, just runs up to me as if to say "get me out of her NOW" but then once I have her, she just wants to go back and eat...  Silly girl.   I gave her a beak trim, but other than that, she's been super easy to keep.  I have her permanently with my grumpy little male and they are doing great together.  He will nip her now and then, but nothing to stress over.  They have a nice big enclosure with plenty of places to get away from eachother if needed.  And have a summer home outside as well :)
