my new tortoise is coming on nov 9th shall i start hibernation then? i need to call the guy to see if they hibernate them but i know its best to

you need to make sure your tort is healthy before you consider hibernating him/her. also you might want to wait a year, in case the move/new home causes a lot of stress with your tort

Not really. But it is safer when they are bigger. Larger torts hold body temps more constant.
