Are these plants save for my Tort!
« on: July 10, 2010, 07:29:26 AM »
I have a few pics of cutting from a few plants at home, was wondering if any one knows what they are and if they are safe for my Tort Herman, thanks to all.

The middle one looks like bachelor buttons.  Could you post a pic of the top one still growing rather than a cutting?

I know the blue flowers are not bacleor buttons, they are a shrub type of plant and the purple ones grow very tall and bushy also, they flop over as so tall, so I cut them all down as out grew there spot, I just have the one started in a corner and tried to get a pic of it but not so good.

Sorry, I don't have a clue.  You might take them to a nursery or your Extension office to see if they can identify them. They are all sure pretty!

Hi The middle one is a form of Centaurea, centaurea Montana. It is commonly called bachelor's button and is very like centaurea cyanus, which we call cornflowers.

Sorry I don't know if the torts can eat them.
