So lately I noticed (in the last week), Viola start to make little squeaky noises. Not only that but she's been religiously basking under her basking spot, which isn't typically normal for Redfoots (or so I've read). I checked her over just yesterday after she made a rather loud squeaky noise, and saw her eyes were watery. So I'm thinking "URI?!"
So I made a vet appointment for her on the 22nd, just in case. She needed to get her shell checked up on anyway to see how her rot damage is healing up.
But if it is URI like I'm thinking...how did it happen? I've been super careful about keeping her sufficiently warm. Her basking spot fluctuates between 90 and 95, and her cold side is 85. She didn't have the highest humidity for the first three or so weeks I got her, because I couldn't keep her too damp with her shell rot, but when that cleared up, I kept her enclosure misted twice daily, and her bedding constantly damp to keep humidity up. Even her water dish (which she looovvess to soak in) is rather large. Its a small cat litter box!
I turn the Powersun off during the night, as I have my heater on, and it keeps my room pretty warm. Nighttime temps are typically in the low 70's.
Her cage is a storage container, 34"Lx15"Wx11"H. I WAS keeping her outside during the last bit of summer we had, and while its not super hot during the summers here in the Pacific Northwest, I never took her out when the temperatures were below 75. Average temps when she was out was 80-85. So it wasn't like it got too cool...
I'm just flabbergasted. I took such good care about keeping her tank warm, and now she might be sick! I've had her for about a month and a half now, so I don't think she came with the URI from where I got her from. It would have shown up earlier, wouldn't it?
