Vitamin A
« on: July 28, 2010, 10:19:42 AM »
I was told that I should/could soak my RT in water that I had added vitamin A to. The vitamin A bottle says it helps with immunity but I'm sure that's for people. Just wondering if anyone knew if this would be a good thing or not. Thanks

You have to be careful with vitamin A supplements; they can be toxic in excessive doses.  Instead, try to ensure that your tortoise is getting sufficient vitamin A in his diet.  Kale, turnip greens, and sweet potatoes are good sources of vitamin A.

Skip on the vitamin A water. They don't need it if they're getting a balanced diet. There's a lot of turts who have received vitamin A shots (not recommended for Russian torts) from uninformed veterinarians, and get vit A overdoses.

Instead, kale is good for Vit A...

Good to know. He isnt eating much if anything, I havent had him very long (less than 2 weeks) so I just want to make sure he's not getting sick.
