« on: August 13, 2010, 01:15:14 PM »
Friday the 13th can be a good day. ;D My first tortoise hatching. I came home from work and found a new little russian friend. Just about everything I needed to know to get to this point I found in this forum.......that and 2 1/2 years of waiting.

Congrats!!! I have a question for you - you said 2-1/2 years of work. Did you have your male & female together for 2-1/2 years before first egg?  I've had my female with my male for 10 Months. No eggs. And I'm very frustrated. So, just wondering if it took you 2.5 years of them together before you had the eggs?

thanks

I have 1 male and 3 females together. I had them inside for the first 6 months. The next year I had them outside in a small pen and brought them in during the winter, and did not allow them to hibernate. This year they are in a larger pen and they all dug in for the winter and came out of hibernation in the same pen. I am thinking that if I would have kept them in the same pen from the start without moving them it would have happened sooner.
